On February 6th 2008, we discovered that Aaron has squamous cell carcinoma. It started in his right tonsil and has spread to his throat and to one lymph node. We have elected to have surgery for removal of these affected areas on February 27th. The surgery will be done at UAB and the cure rate for this type of cancer is 75%. Depending on the pathology report, further treatment may be necessary (radiation). Recovery will be painful, as it will involve removal of throat tissue.
We covet your prayers for Aaron, our family, and Dr. Magnuson as we prepare for surgery.
Although this has taken us by surprise, we know that it hasn't taken God by surprise. We don't know exactly what our future holds, but we do know who holds our future, and we are trusting Him. Please pray for us. We will keep you updated!

Through the LORD'S mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is YOUR faithfulness. "The LORD is my portion," says my soul, therefore I hope in Him!" The LORD is good to those who wait for HIM, to the soul who seeks Him . It is good that one whould hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.

Aaron & Family-we are already praying for your complete recovery. We, too, had a 'surprise' cancer diagnosis with my Dad 2 weeks ago & understand your feelings. Lean on the Hope, Faith & Love that you already have in place & remember we serve a risen Saviour who has your future securely in His Hands. Stan & I will continue to pray for you-scj
I am praying that God will find you and your family faithful during this time in you all's lives. May the LORD use this to glorify Himself, and use you and your family to minister to those who will involved in this process. We know that God works everything for His good, and though we do not know why you are going through this, other than for His glory, just know you have a people all around you surrounding you in love and prayer.
